Rancho Palos Verdes has begun a temporary program to encourage property owners to obtain planing and building permits “after the fact.” 

The program, which began Dec. 1 and will run through May 3, allows approval for certain kinds of improvements-such as re-roofing, small additions, and pool installation-that have already been completed without necessary permits.

Penalty fee for such work are normally two to three times the regular cost of permits.

The program will waive penalty fees; property owners will only have to pay the applicable fees as though the project hadn’t already been completed.

Projects will still have to comply with code and will require inspection.
